A Fun Finish

By gosh, those quilts that were never, ever planned, but instead just come together surely have to be one of the best parts of quilting. I had these leftover 2.5" squares. I needed some hand stitching to take with me when we did some traveling and visiting over Thanksgiving. This is the result!

I am so thrilled with this finish. I often find myself thinking that I need to be using more of that Kaffe Fassett fabric that I have in the stash. I have sooooo much, and I don't know how I will ever manage to use it all. Well, bit by bit, I suppose I will. Eventually.

I did a fair amount of auditioning for that final, outer border. I almost went with Waltzing Matilda - that's the name of this fabric. Isn't it great? The name is as wonderful as the fabric.

I went instead with this one. I think it is called Kimono. It was the darkness of it is that tipped the scale in its favor.

So I can count another finish for 2012. It was nowhere on my radar screen to get this one done; it just happened. *Giggly, happy dancing!!*

Off to see what's next on the to-do list. I have many options. I believe I listed them in the previous post.

One thing I did not list was a Mystery Quilt that is being run by Bonnie Hunter on her blog, Quiltville's Quips and Snips. It's called Easy Street, and every Friday she gives a new set of clues (directions). I have not actually started cutting and sewing, but I am printing off the directions, and have even pulled some fabric for it. I may not start it until after the new year. Then again...

Happy Quilting, Friends!

  4. I love your quilt...always love quilts with nine patches. The darker border is what I would have chosen, too. By the way, I think the bench in that photo is great!!!
