Parade Reminder

Hey, all you peeps! Just wanted to send out a reminder that this Saturday is our Lone Star Parade. We had a handful of quilters who worked on a Lone Star with us, and we want to showcase everyone's results. We are also opening things up to all of you who have a Lone Star quilt, whether you made it or not. We'd love to hear the story behind the quilt. If your Lone Star is a quilt top - a flimsy - then tell us your thoughts on how you'll have it quilted.

Sorry for all that instruction. As a teacher, I should know to keep directions short and simple!

The work in the new sewing room continues. DH has finished the painting - walls and ceiling, removed  the painter's tape, and steam cleaned the carpet. He washed the windows, too. This was my Christmas present from him, and he did a thorough job, bless his heart!

Now we are in moving mode. Yesterday, with the help of DD2, we managed what you see in the following photos.

Originally this corner unit desk was downstairs, and the place where we all shared one family computer. As we accumulated more computers, this was more of an eyesore and a serious waste of space, so we hauled it upstairs to Emma's room. She was able to use it through her junior and senior year of high school. Now it has once again been given a new purpose. I think I am going to like sewing here.

Tubs of fabric have been moved. The closet in this room is much bigger than the one on the room I have been using. It will hold a lot of fabric, and that's a good thing.

The top of the closet houses more fabrics. I need more tubs, don't I? Those cardboard boxes look ridiculous. But, I do get to look at the fabric, so it's not all bad, I guess.

I have plenty of tubs already, you know. These tubs are waiting on a home. They will likely go into the shelving units when they get moved in a day or two.

And there's still plenty of room for me to fill. This is the final corner to get steam cleaned. Looks nice, doesn't it? I will be moving a series of shelves here, along with two dressers. They are still in the old room, and will have to be emptied before moving. So it's a process.

Okay, enough from me for now. I'm off to an appointment with a neurologist who will hopefully have a successful treatment for my sciatic nerve pain. I feel like I've been an invalid for over 2 months now, and I am really tired of it. I hope for just the right thing to fix me!!

Happy Quilting, Friends!

  1. I've been waiting for updates... your desk looks perfect for sewing! So much space to spread out. Something to think about in your closet is to add a second shelf on top - our builder did this in all of our closets. When we built our Morton (boat garage) I had them install shelves on all 3 sides. They thought I was nuts... but you can never have too many shelves in my book!
