I Wonder Where She's Been?

I have had several people ask me this since I've not posted in quite awhile. Well, we've had a lot going on. Sewing, quilting and blogging has had to take a back seat, unfortunately.

I will summarize some of our recent goings on. First, Thanksgiving. Like I said, we celebrated on Turkey Day with my in-law side of the family. Good food and lots of love. Then on Sunday of that weekend, we celebrated again - this time with my side of the family.

What do you think of all these rolls? Our family loves them, and we have some big men who are big eaters, so my sister made plenty. Mmmm, good.

Besides eating delicious food, another fun part of getting together is seeing the babies in the family. These three cuties are all grandchildren of my brother Alan. That would make them my grand-nieces and nephew, Aniston, Koen and Lucy Belle.

Then, sadly, we had a death in the family. My husband's sister Ann died last Tuesday at the age of 52. We are so sad, and will miss her so. She leaves a son, Jamie, along with one sister and three brothers. My father-in-law is suffering the loss of a daughter, too. Hug your loved ones a little tighter every now and then; you never know what may come.

In the  midst of these family things, I continue to work with the Greenfield Historical Society on the McClain HS book. The deadline approaches! Yikes!

Plus, we are at the end of the semester at OUC; that brings deadlines, essays, grading, finals and more grading. Whew! It gets chaotic, but I still love it.

In the stitching realm, I have had precious few minutes to pick up a needle and thread, but have managed a little bit. The Long Road Home gets a little closer to finished, as I have been trying to work on it often. The red triangles on the right side of the picture are the borders, so it's close!!

And the edges of that 6-pointed star are going to be finished off one of these days.

My sewing machine is surely dust-covered from neglect. I haven't sewn in the sewing room in a very, very long time. Every time I go in there, it's not for sewing; it's for dropping something off that I will have to deal with later. It's become a storage facility, I guess.

I will try to get back to regular posting. I have a couple of things in mind to share with you.
Happy Quilting, Friends!

  2. I'm so sorry for you all on the loss of a sister/daughter/sister-in-law.

Your rolls look gorgeous, and remind me that I'm really hungry right now cos I should be making omelettes for our lunch, not sitting chatting to you!

  3. Oh that's sad. So young! Your family has my sympathy. My sewing room is often a storage facility too, especially at the end of semester. I'm enjoying being in there a lot these holidays, and look forward to more time in there this long summer break.
