Finishes Feel Good!

Gosh, did Sharon and I make our sewing day count yesterday! Binding quilts is not a difficult task, but it does take some maneuvering at the sewing machine - all the bulk of the quilt finds a seamstress tussling with it quite a bit. After Sharon finished off her THREE bindings, she was feeling it in her neck; as I was finishing my TWO bindings, I was feeling it in my neck/shoulder. But the finish far outweighs the discomfort. Believe me on this! *wink*

Above is Sharon's first finish of the day - binding for her Downton Abbey quilt. This will be gifted. It looks divine. I wrote about it back in the summer when Sharon was making it. Click here for review purposes, if you like.

Next up was the quilt she made for her brother, stacked neatly on top of Downton Abbey; if you'd like to see a fuller picture of the quilt, click here.

After that, she tackled a heavy flannel quilt that will go to her nephew. Light blue and white are his high school's colors. The gray and navy are added for a Trip-Around-the-World design.

By the time Sharon was working on this one, she was really getting that crick in her neck. After the fact, we realized she'd been better off to begin with this one, the heaviest and bulkiest. Hindsight and all that...

So here we have Sharon's hefty stack of newly-bound quilts, all to be given as Christmas gifts. What an accomplishment! Now, she still has two that she hopes to polish off in time for the big day. One is quilted, but the binding has not been prepped. The other needs to go to the quilter for it is still in flimsy stage. That one might not make the deadline; it'll be a close call for sure.

For my day's efforts, I zipped over to Terry's early to get my two commissioned t-shirt quilts, all freshly quilted. I immediately finished off the one using the orange binding. Then I needed to prep the binding for the other one. I will bring pics of that tomorrow.

I have a full day ahead! Mother is coming and we are taking her to Columbus to meet our daughter and son-in-law for a trip to the Columbus Zoo Wildlights exhibit. Afterwards, we will stop at a favorite restaurant/pub that Mom likes.

I do have to take a moment to brag that in addition to finishing the two t-shirt bindings, I also finished the fall semester by submitting my grades last night about midnight! Whoo-hoo! Let the season's celebrations begin!!

Happy Quilting, Friends!
