Slow Sunday Stitching

I don't limit my slow stitching to just Sundays, do you? I found myself feeling a bit under the weather yesterday, and about all the energy I could muster was to sit in my easy chair with my quilting on my lap and quilt on the border of my paper-pieced UFO.

I have one side completed, another side partially done, and hope today to finish it off. The end is in sight! I am still using the Pounce tool and Grandma's stencil to mark the quilting lines; I find that this method suits me well. I can deal with the dust in exchange for the fast results of the Pounce. (Click back here to see my explanation of Pounce.)

Yes, I am feeling better today, but I still plan to quilt. And I will be linking up with Kathy and her Slow Sunday Stitching link party.

On the back burner for me is making more blue Swoon blocks using Kaffe Fassett fabrics. I have quite an assortment spread out in the sewing room. That will be the subject of tomorrow's post. Come back if you like 'eye candy!'

Happy Quilting, Friends!

  1. Your hand quilting looks so nice. Did you make your little hoop? I bet it's easy to pop on and off. I read your comment on Moose Bay Quilts blog about not sewing with wool. I agree with you completely. I don't want to start something new when I am so content with cotton for everything. Every time I think I'm going to buy a wool embroidery project, I remind my self that it would take me away from quilting. I guess I'm just too practical too. I want to make something that I can really use (and wash).

  2. Very nice hand quilting stitches indeed. I have never tried a pounce. In the past I used a white pencil. Hope you feel better soon.

  3. Glad you're feeling better. But then, working with kaffe fasset fabrics is bound to make one feel better, even on the dullest day! :)

  4. Your quilting is very pretty. I have used that pounce tool and I do not like it. I found it rubbed off prior to me finishing my stitching and was difficult to see. You seemed to have made the chalk quite visible, which rarely occurred for me.

  6. I love using a pounce also--even on my long arm--it's so quick and easy! I have arthritis in my hands and wrists, so no hand quilting for me--so sad because it's so lovely.
