Latest From the Frankfort Girls

We sewed yesterday morning at JoAnn's. We did not have a ton of things for sharing, but these few offerings will surely brighten your day.

JoAnn has been bitten by the English Paper Piecing bug. At our Canter's Cave retreat in April, she got some instruction from Jan - our resident Queen of EPP - and has been progressing right along.

And this is definitely progress, wouldn't you say? I tell you, I do love to look at these blocks and admire the ingenuity that each one takes, but I just don't have any desire to make them. I guess it's one technique that I am willing to forego.

This very large quilt is by Terry. Several weeks ago when we were at her house for a day of sewing, she was putting this together - long 5" strips in blue and off-white. She'd seen a comforter like this in a catalog and was determined to make her own version.

And, by gosh, she did! It is now quilted and she spent the morning working on stitching the binding. Take a look at the spectacular backing on it. This is easily a reversible quilt.

My own work involved making two more 9-patch blocks. I needed just two more to have enough for finishing the quilt I wrote about here, my May UFO. And these are my final blocks. Now I just need to make a decision on how to put them all together.

Hope you have a great Saturday!
Happy Quilting, Friends!

  1. I enjoyed seeing all that beautiful stitching. I do want to try my hand at paper piecing someday, but it may be a while.

  2. The paper piecing block is gorgeous.I haven't ventured into that are, either, and don't know if I will. Your nine patches are so soothing. They are one of my favorite blocks. The large striped quilt is great. Fun!!
