Sewing With Friends

Over the past several days, I have had the opportunity to sew with various members of the Frankfort girls, and let me tell you, they sure can quilt! The projects they have been working on are gorgeous and varied! I will share a few.

You have seen several fabulous EPP quilts from the hands of Jan. Well, she's at it again. When we met for Frankfort Girls last week, she had these beauties prepped and ready to stitch. It's impressive, let me tell you.

When Jan does something, she goes all in. Why prep just a couple of posies at a time when you can prep the entire quilt?? Below is the pattern she is making. Very cool!

A week prior to that, several of us were sewing at Terry's, and Jan worked on Morning Glory, shown below. The pattern shows it in a straight setting, but she was setting her blocks on point. It was really pretty, and the setting she chose made it look even better than this pattern example.

This past Wednesday, Terry had us in again for a day of sewing. Sharon O. worked on making a table runner. She has made several of these already, and plans to give this one to a friend. Below are her blocks.

And the pattern is from a magazine. I didn't bother to get the details, but I probably should have. I missed my chance to take a picture of her near-finish, too. By the time we were closing up for the day, she had all but one border piece attached. It looked great.

Our hostess, Terry, had a UFO (below) from a year or so ago nearly finished. When Jan was finished with her project, she took over this cornfield quilt top of Terry's and did the necessary embroidery on the corn and other elements.

Each time we sew at Terry's, we have to share space with these 3 sweet dogs. The spaniel in the middle is the grande dame Maddie, the oldest of the bunch. On the ends are schnauzers Millie (dark) and Cooper (light). Millie is Cooper's mother. They pretty much rule the roost at Terry's, I think. *wink*

This homespun quilt is one of Terry's recent finishes. She was binding it when we were together for Frankfort Girls last week.

Terry is also working on a license plate quilt. You have seen them, I'm sure.  Participating quilt shops across the country create a license plate representative of their store or region. Here are a couple of examples. Terry laid out her quilt on the bed, but again, I failed to get a picture.

My work on Wednesday consisted of working on T-shirt quilts. It was satisfying work, and with another day-long push, I believe I can have these 2 quilts ready for the quilter. At this time, I have yet to take pictures of either quilt.

These girls sure have a way of inspiring me with all their creativity. I am blessed to be surrounded by such talented women.

Happy Quilting, Friends!
