Friends' Quilts

Retreat sewing was productive for the other gals, too, and today I will share pics of their creations. I regret that I didn't get every project worked on by every quilter, but this is a good representation.

Laura came by for an afternoon visit and had a couple of show and tell quilts. She is famous for small quilts made with the tiniest pieces, so you know these were right up her alley.

Helen had two quilt kits to work on, shown above. The first she dubbed a wonky effort or "Flintstone Wheels" - she was rather challenged when trying to follow the directions for paper piecing, and messed up enough times that she was out of fabric. When life gives you lemons, make lemonade as the saying goes. This little table topper is one such finish.

The second effort was much more successful. I think any of us would have been happy with this pretty little darling.

The quilt above is by Jan, the queen of making the most of her time at retreat. This kit was up for grabs from one of the girls who was down-sizing the stash. Jan got the fabric on Friday, made the blocks over the weekend, then stitched up the quilt top at retreat. Voila! Instant quilt top!

Jan then proceeded to make two 3-yard quilts - one for Halloween and one for Christmas. Easy-Peasy.

You may recall that Sharon made a version of Alpine along with me over the summer. Well, she had plenty of leftover greens, so she decided to make more trees and 'grow' her Alpine quilt to suit as a bed quilt. I do not have a pic of  the enlarged quilt, but this has really become quite a massive forest!

The remaining gals all worked diligently on their projects, but taking pics just wasn't good as far as timing goes. As they continue working on those quilts, I will be sure to snap some pics to share.

All in all, the August retreat was hugely successful. Three nights and four days is just the right length for a retreat. We had the best time further cementing our friendships!

Happy Quilting, Friends!
