Good golly! March is here already! Yay! Spring is on the way!
If you've been around here for any amount of time, you know I love to begin a new month for the opportunity it affords to make a mini plan for the month as well as to take stock of the previous one.
My plan for this month? Off the top of my head, I can think of these items:
1. Quilt the baby Henry quilt.
2. Finish the diamond quilt.
3. Return to working on a tree quilt; I've had new ideas on this; stay tuned.
4. Work at the long arm machine - quilt 4 quilts plus that baby quilt, for a total of 5.
5. Finish hand quilting Fall Foliage.
6. Work on Lake Effect. (That's for my bloggy-friend and encourager, Gretchen.)
Now, how about we take a look at the February collage, to see what sort of highlights we can cover.
TOP ROW: Early in February, while we were at the vacation rental in Florida, I made this quick and easy baby quilt. It is the one to be quilted (#1) that I mentioned above. Next, I worked rather diligently on hexie flowers when we had a few quiet evenings to watch movies or reruns of Great British Baking Show. The diamonds in the next picture were my focus for the remainder of the month, and I sewed quite a few of them together into long strips and then made good progress on a flimsy.
MIDDLE ROW: That flimsy was looking pretty sweet by the time we came home. Happily, progress has continued this last week. In the middle, you see the Withlacoochee Nature Trail that we walked on quite a bit while in Florida. It was lovely, and a very popular trail not just for walkers, but joggers, cyclists, and more. The trail winds past several lakes in the area, and that is what you see in the third picture. I don't know which lake this is.
BOTTOM ROW: Once back home, we made a quick trip to Columbus to see our darling girl, Cate. She is an absolute sweetheart! The next pic is that surprise purchase we made in Florida - our little vacation spot. And finally, two of the 4 deer we have seen repeatedly around our house and yard back here in Ohio. They must have made themselves right at home in our month-long absence.
Now I look forward to smashing all those goals for this month! Optimism abounds as we "march" in to March, which has come in like a lamb this morning - the sun is shining bright, and temperatures are supposed to get into the low 70s. Nice.
Have a great day, and a great month!
Happy Quilting, Friends!
Well, I'm not so ambitious with my plans - however, seeing the grandmothers garden quilt in your last post has motivated me to continue mine, I've been working on 2 at the same time for about 5 years now.......this setting in white has got me planning on finishing one of them this year. (Hexies are my spare time stitching) Lucky you with your holiday home, looking forward to seeing more. Elaine in UK
